A ferry transporting more than 300 commuters from New Jersey to their offices in New York crashed into a pier, injuring more than 50 people, dpa quoted police as saying Wednesday. The accident caused mostly minor injuries, with at least one person suffering from a serious head injury taken to a nearby hospital. The ferry made a hard landing into Pier 11 in Lower Manhattan while it tried to dock early morning. The SeaStreet ferry suffered a large gash at the bow and a spokesman for the company which operates four commuter ferries said some people were thrown out of their seats into the walls of the boat.
