Three people were shot dead in south-western Switzerland by an apparently drunken man, news reports said Thursday. Police were called about 9 pm (2000 GMT) Wednesday to the village of Daillon near Sion, around 40 kilometres from the French border, and were able to disarm and apprehend the suspect, the Swiss news agency sda reported. Two other people were injured, the report said, citing police. Officers used their weapons during the arrest, but police did not say if the suspect was injured. The online news website 20minutes.ch reported that a 30-year-old resident of the village opened fire with a rifle. A local restaurant owner was quoted as saying the suspect had drunk a large quantity of alcohol before the incident.
