Some 504 houses in Pandeglang district, Banten province, have been inundated by floods since Monday night, with floodwaters reaching a height of 1-2 metres, dpa quoted National Disaster Mitigation Agency (BNPB) spokesman Sutopo Purwo Nugroho as saying. "Incessant downpours since Monday night made Cipunten river overflow in the area. No casualties have been reported so far. Most of the local people are still in their houses, while others have taken shelter at the nearest elementary school building," ANTARA quoted the spokesman as saying. He also said that food aid in the form of mineral water, rice and instant noodles has been provided in the affected areas. Meanwhile, Pandeglang district's Disaster Mitigation Agency chairman H Cecep reported that the floodwaters were receding. "Some people who had left their houses have returned home, while others continue to be at the temporary shelter because their houses are still inundated by water," he said.
