At least 12 people including nine militants were killed and 14 injured when they attacked a military base Sunday in eastern Afghanistan, police said. "Nine insurgents armed with explosives, small arms and rocket-propelled grenades attacked the US military base near Jalalabad airfield in the eastern Nangarhar province this morning," police spokesman Hazrat Hossein said, adding that all the attackers were killed. He said three guards employed at the base were also killed, and 14 other people wounded, according to a report of DPA.
