NATO Secretary General Anders Fogh Rasmussen on Monday urged Israel to show "restraint" and said he welcomed regional and international efforts to find a settlement for the Middle East conflict. "Of course Israel has the right to self-defence, and attacks against Israel must end. But the international community would also expect Israel to show restraint," Rasmussen said. "I'm very much concerned about the escalation of violence in both Gaza and Israel," Rasmussen said, adding that NATO was not involved in the Middle East peace process and didn't see a role in it, according to a report of DPA.
