AlHijjah 26, 1433, Nov 11, 2012, SPA - Mount Lokon volcano on Indonesia's Sulawesi island erupted Sunday afternoon with a loud explosion and spewing ash, state news agency Antara reported. The 1,578-metre volcano erupted at 1:43 pm (0543 GMT). No casualties were reported, said Surono, head of the Centre of Vulcanology and Geological Disaster Mitigation. Authorities advised residents not to do any outdoor activity within a 2.5-kilometre radius of the crater. Mount Lokon has been on high alert status since July and has maintain high volcanic activity ever since. Indonesia has about 500 volcanoes, 128 of them classified as active and 65 listed as dangerous, according to a report of DPA.
