AlHijjah 24, 1433, Nov 9, 2012, SPA -- Prince Khalid bin Sultan has been selected as the Perseus award winner for 2012 in recognition of his efforts and contribution to the conservation of marine wildlife, the Living Oceans Foundation announced yesterday. "It is a great honor to be recognized for my involvement in marine conservation," Prince Khalid said in a statement from the Living Oceans Foundation in its headquarters in Landover, MD. "It is a privilege to be able to support such worthwhile work and to contribute to ocean conservation in a meaningful and tangible way." Eleven years ago, Prince Khalid founded the Living Oceans Foundation, which consists of a group of scientists that is "dedicated to conservation of the world's oceans," the statement said. According to the statement, the foundation has conducted research in the Red Sea, the Seychelles, the Bahamas, Jamaica, Colombia, St. Kitts, the Galapagos, and is currently mapping and surveying coral reefs in French Polynesia.
