AlHijjah 7, 1433, Oct 23, 2012, SPA -- Major General Mansour Al-Turki, Spokesman of the Ministry of Interior, confirmed that Hajj transport plan, to be implemented by almost all government bodies taking part in the service of pilgrims, envisages picking more than two million pilgrims and settling them in Mina, their pre-peak Arafat station within the coming 24 hours. In his first daily press conference on Hajj developments and situations, Al-Turki told reporters that nearly 85% of pilgrims are now heading for Mina to stay the day before Arafat there as per what Prophet Mohammed did. He said 24.4 percent of pilgrims will be transported via the train, 34.6 percent by shuttle transportation means over three phases and 41 percent by traditional means of transportation. More than 18,500 buses will be used in the shuttle and traditional transportation, he added. --More
