AlHijjah 2, 1433, Oct 18, 2012, SPA -- A policeman was shot down point-blank by an unidentified attacker in the city of Magas, Russia's North Caucasian republic of Ingushetia, a spokesman for the republican administration of the Russian Investigations Committee told Itar-Tass on Thursday. According to the spokesman, the incident took place at about 08:00 a.m. Moscow time on Thursday, when Zalimkhan Yevloyev, 28, a traffic police officer, was heading to his office. The assaulter fled the scene. A search operation has been launched. Local police opened a criminal case on charges of an attempted murder of a police officer and illegal possession of arms and munitions.
