AlQa'dah 24, 1433, Oct 10, 2012, SPA - The Ministers of Water and Electricity of Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) States started here today their 25 meeting under the chairmanship of the Minister of Water and Electricity Eng. Abdullah bin Abdulrahman Al-Hossein. In his opening speech, Eng. Al-Hossein said that the meeting will discuss important topics including the increase of the efficiency of electrical and water systems through the development of electricity and water technical specifications and the achievement of reliability and sustainability by linking electricity and water, as well as the reduction of wasteful use of water and electricity by rationalization of consumption. He pointed out that the support provided through GCC Grid ranges from 50 to 682 megawatt, while the total energy exchanged between the networks of interconnected countries during the year 2011 exceeded 315,000 megawatt/ hour.
