AlQa'dah 13, 1433, Sep 29, 2012, SPA- The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia reaffirmed that the elimination of nuclear weapons forms certain guarantees against their uses or threats of their uses. This came in a speech delivered by Prince Dr. Turki bin Mohammed bin Saud Al-Kabeer, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for Multilateral Relations before a high-level meeting on combating nuclear terrorism with the emphasis on strengthening the legal frameworks held in New York yesterday . The Prince said that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia submitted in 2005 a report included steps for promotion to achieve the establishment of a zone free of nuclear weapons in the Middle East, in response to the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons in 2000. In this context, the Government of Saudi Arabia still confirms the contents of the report, in the forefront, the establishment of a zone free of nuclear weapons in the Middle East. He noted that Israel's acquisition of nuclear weapons is a fundamental obstacle to achieving security and stability in the region in spite of all its justifications for the possession and development of weapons of mass destruction, in particular nuclear weapons. --More
