AlQa'dah 7, 1433, Sep 23, 2012, SPA -- At least nine people including foreign climbers were killed while four remained missing and 12 others rescued after an avalanche hit the base of Mt Manaslu in Nepal on Sunday. According to Xinhua, the incident happened at an altitude of some 7,000 meters at around 9 am local time while these foreign tourists were on an expedition to climb Mt Manaslu, local police said. Police also informed that preliminary investigation showed most of the tourists are from Germany. It is reported that three helicopters have been called in from Nepali capital Kathmandu and mobilized for search and rescue operation. Some of the survivors have been airlifted to the capital for treatment.
