In a report to commemorate the National Day anniversary, the Ministry of Education said it has achieved over the last three years a qualitative leap focusing on expansion in curricula, horizontal expansion of general education, decentralization, electronic education; evaluation of general performance of female and male pupils and students, expansion in kindergarten and early-childhood education. The report said the Ministry has received 2600 new school buildings and repaired 4000 schools, thus getting rid of 1475 schools and 600 destructible buildings. It is currently submitting bids for building 1100 new buildings. According to the report, 38500 female teachers have been transferred to schools of their choice and that 45% of male teachers had their choices of transference met. The Ministry said Saudi Arabia ranked 29th out of 101 in terms of education, its first attempt in such competition, over passing advanced countries like Germany, France, Italy and other European countries and all Arab countries. In an international competition on innovation for young students, five Saudi students picked two silver and three bronze.
