AlQa'dah 3, 1433, Sep 19, 2012, SPA -- Members of parliament in Senegal have voted to abolish the country's senate in order to free up funds for flood relief, dpa cited local media as reporting on Wednesday. The vote was held after President Macky Sall suggested that some 15 million dollars allotted to the senate could be used to people victims of floods that hit the country earlier this month. At least 12 people have been killed as a result of floods in Senegal this year. Floods sweep through low-lying areas each rainy season, leading wells to overflow and homes to be abandoned. About 3000 families are believed to have been made homeless so far this year in Dakar alone.
