At least 34 people were killed when a bus fell into a mountain gorge in northern India, police said Tuesday. The bus crashed late Monday into a 700-metre deep ravine in the Kangra valley, 250 kilometres north-west of Shimla, the capital of Himachal Pradesh state. "Thirty four bodies have been recovered from the wreckage of the bus," area police chief Yoginder Pal said by telephone from the accident site. "Five passengers have been hospitalized. We are continuing rescue operations as we fear there could be more casualties," he said. The victims were three children and 31 men and women, according to a report of dpa.
