A small earthquake has shaken the Los Angeles area and authorities are checking for any damage, AP reported. The U.S. Geological Survey said the quake had a preliminary magnitude of 3.4 and struck at 12:03 a.m. PDT (0703 GMT), centered about nine miles (15 kilometers) west of downtown Los Angeles. There were no immediate reports of damage but the Los Angeles Fire Departments say its crews will check to see if the quake damaged any critical infrastructure.
