The Secretary General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), Prof. Ekmeleddin Ihsanoglu, has strongly condemned the killing of a kidnapped Algerian diplomat by an armed group known as the Movement for Unity and Jihad in West Africa. In a statement issued today, Prof. Ihsanoglu described the killing as a criminal and terrorist act which is against all human values as well as the noble values of Islam in particular, reaffirming the principled position of the OIC against all forms and manifestations of violence and terrorism. He called for the immediate release of other hostages, stressing that whoever committed this heinous crime should be brought to justice. The OIC Secretary General conveyed his sincere condolences to the family of the Algerian diplomat as well as to the Government and people of Algeria on this tragic incident.
