An 82-year-old woman accused of stealing about $17,000 from doctors' offices is a career criminal and burglary is "her thing," UPI cited California prosecutors as saying. Doris Thompson was arrested Thursday and held on suspicion of commercial burglary, the Los Angeles Times reported. Torrance, Calif., Police Sgt. Robert Watt said Thompson targeted at least eight doctors' offices in her alleged burglary plot. She allegedly would enter an office, hide until closing and then look for keys for the cash box, Watt said. Thompson was identified after she was caught on a surveillance video at one of the offices, Watt said. Officials said Thompson has a 20-page rap sheet dating to 1955. She has been imprisoned nine times for burglary, including as recently as two years ago. "I don't think this will stop her from doing this again," Los Angeles County Deputy District Attorney Paulette Paccione said, after Thompson was convicted in 2010. "She's not really apologetic about it. This is her thing."
