Thousands of tearful Ethiopians lined the streets of Addis Ababa on Wednesday as a car carrying the body of former Prime Minister Meles Zenawi slowly drove from the airport to the national palace, according to dpa. Zenawi was flown home late Tuesday night following his death in a Belgium hospital the previous day. The coffin - draped in the green, yellow and red colours of the Ethiopian flag - was driven to the palace, where Zenawi will lie in state until his funeral, for which a date has yet to be set. Along the route mourners held images of the 57-year-old prime minister, who had led Ethiopia since 1995, while television and radio stations broadcasted funeral music. Flags at schools, police stations and government buildings were at half-mast as the country declared a week of national mourning.
