The death toll in floods that struck the Philippine capital and surrounding provinces reached 85 with eight people still missing, the government's disaster response agency said Sunday. Sixty-two victims drowned, 12 were killed in landslides and the rest died from electrocution, heart attack, lightning strikes or being hit by falling trees, the Office of Civil Defence was quoted as saying by DPA. More than 760,000 people were displaced by the floods caused by days of heavy rains, with 430,125 in evacuation centers in Manila and 16 provinces in the northern region of Luzon.
