U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton met here today South African Minister of International Relations and Cooperation, Ms Maite Nkoana-Mashabane. The official talks between the two sides focused on trade, other bilateral issues of concern and the response to events in global hotspots. The meeting is the second cabinet-level strategic dialogue between the two nations. South Africa is a member of the U.N. Security Council and the U.S. wants its support in dealing with the worsening crisis in Syria. Hillary Clinton is in South Africa at the midpoint of an 11-day tour that has already taken her to Senegal, Uganda, South Sudan, Kenya and Malawi. After a stop in Cape Town, she will travel on to Nigeria, Ghana and Benin before moving on to Turkey, where she will have meetings to discuss Syria, according to a report of the Associated Press.
