A senior Syrian intelligence officer on Sunday announced his defection to Jordan, marking the highest-level defection from the ranks of the feared security services. According to Al Arabiya TV, Colonel Yarub Sharaa, Head of the Information Bureau of Damascus' political intelligence unit, announced Sunday that he had broken ranks with President Basharal-Assad's regime. Jordanian security sources confirmed that Sharaa arrived in Jordan earlier this week and was currently living at a safe house in Amman.
