Afghan police say a remote-controlled bomb in a busy market has killed two policemen and one civilian in the country's northwest. Faryab provincial police chief Gen. Abdul Khaliq Asye said Saturday that the explosives were detonated remotely and appeared to target police, who had stopped at the market in Ghormach district about 500 kilometers (300 miles) northwest of Kabul, the capital. The blast came after 6 p.m. Friday, according to a report of the Associated Press. Asye blamed Taliban insurgents for the attack.
