At least 13 militants and two soldiers were killed in overnight fighting between rebels and security forces in Pakistan's volatile north-west tribal region, dpa cited a security official as saying on Thursday. The clashes occurred in the Badami and Dabori areas of Orakzai, one of the seven tribal districts where security forces are fighting militants. Major Fazal ur Rehman, spokesman for the paramilitary Frontier Corps, told dpa by phone that the army launched an operation after a roadside bomb hit a military vehicle in the Badami area, killing two soldiers and injuring three others. "The operation was successful as the forces killed 13 militants and also destroyed their hideouts," Rehman said.
