Sons of late Prince Sultan bin Abdulaziz have sent a ten-ton shipment of dates as a gift to Palestinian people living in camps in Lebanon. The gift, to mark the blessed month of Ramadan, was delivered by the Saudi embassy in Beirut. Saudi ambassador to Lebanon Ali bin Saeed Awadh Assiri; Palestinian ambassador to Lebanon Ashraf Dabbour; and UNRWA Deputy Director in Lebanon Robert Hert were present at the delivery ceremony. Addressing the attendees, the Saudi ambassador said the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, led by the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, will remain adamant in its position standing by the side of the Palestinian people. For his part, the UNRWA official said Saudi Arabia is the biggest supporter for Palestinians in Lebanon, citing its recent donation of $10 million to rehabilitate the Al-bared river camp, and that it is UNRWA's third largest contributor for 2011.
