The Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al Saud has directed the partial utilization of King Abdullah Expansion Project of the Grand Mosque as of July 20, 2012. The ground floor of the new expansion building as well as a large part of the new areas will be utilized to accommodate more than 200,000 worshippers. Such areas will be covered by carpets, provided with Zamzam water and equipped with additional toilets. These areas will serve the worshipers and Umrah performers in the Grand Mosque.
