One person was killed and three others seriously injured when nitrate explosives stored in a residence in central China's Hunan province went off on Monday night, according to local police. The explosion occurred in a farmer's house in Chengbu county of Shaoyang city at 10:23 p.m., causing the house to collapse and trap four people inside, Xinhua quoted municipal police as saying on Tuesday. The son of the house owner was found dead at the site, while the three seriously injured people are receiving hospital treatment, police said. Residents living nearby were evacuated for fear of another collapse as the explosion has damaged adjacent buildings, they added. The incident is under investigation.
