At least six people had been confirmed dead and four injured in a strong firecracker blast near residential areas in central China's Hunan Province Friday night. The accident occurred in Ningxiang County at about 9:30 p.m. Friday, Xinhua reported. Preliminary investigations had indicated that the truck full of raw materials of firecrackers hit an electric wire pole and were then lighted by the fallen wire. Several nearby houses were severely damaged. Local authorities are rushing to carry out rescue work.
