An emergency situation regime has been announced in eight districts of the Krasnoyarsk territory over wildfires, the Federal Forest Agency reported on Sunday. There are 65 wildfires on the area of 8,950 hectares now, the territorial forest firefighting department told Itar-Tass. The fire spread into 2,146 hectares over the past day. The blaze moved from the south to the north, to the Boguchansk and Severo-Yeniseisky districts. There are eight large fires there. "Most of the fires, on 8,640 hectares, are burning in the areas accessible to aircraft only. Avialesokhrana aviation is working. Aircraft deliver paratrooper firefighters and equipment and help suppress crown fires on 1,755 hectares," the source said. About 1,500 men are putting out taiga and steppe fires of 2,230 hectares with more than 130 machines. "The Federal Hydro-Meteorological Committee says that the fire risk on the Krasnoyarsk territory would remain extremely high for the next three days. The emergency situation regime was enacted in eight districts of the Krasnoyarsk territory for stabilizing the wildfire rate. One hundred and eighty-one people from Avialesokhrana reserves were assigned to the territory to assist local firemen," it said.
