A German citizen has been arrested in Tanzania on suspicion that he has ties to a radical Somali Islamist militia, Tanzanian officials said on Wednesday, according to dpa. "It is true that one German national of Turkish origin has been arrested by police here," Foreign Ministry spokesman Assah Mwanmbene told dpa. The Foreign Ministry in Berlin confirmed that an unnamed German national was arrested in Tanzania and was receiving consular assistance. It was unclear if he was captured in Arusha, near the border with Kenya, or Dar es-Salem, the largest city. Tanzanian officials identified the man as Emrah Erdogan. He is wanted by Kenyan police. Police in Nairobi released his photo last month, after a bombing at a Kenyan shopping mall injured more than two dozen people. Kenyan police said they were unsure if he was tied to the attack, but alleged he had been involved in other bombings and wanted him for questioning. -- SPA
