The General Organization for Social Insurance (GOSI) achieved 99.66% in the 2011 e-government transformation measurement carried out by the e-Government Program (Yesser) in cooperation with King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals. In a statement on this occasion, GOSI Assistant Governor for Information Technology Ahmed bin Mohammed Al-Omran said this achievement is attributed to the hard work to implement GOSI strategy for using e-transactions to provide GOSI services. "This achievement gives momentum to GOSI services," Al-Omran added. The Assistant Governor reviewed GOSI march in achieving the current status of e-government transformation. "In 1998, GOSI prepared a strategic plan for information technology that aimed at converting GOSI old systems to modern ones compatible with internet applications. The implementation of this strategic plan in 2000 resulted in an integrated e-system covering all GOSI transactions and supporting internet applications and e-government," Al-Omran said. "In mid-2005, GOSI launched its first e-channel which is GOSIONLINE, through which the first interactive and integrated transaction was carried out. Within the same year, GOSI launched the Direct Link which is an e-channel through which large establishments can directly conduct e-transactions between GOSI and their systems without human intervention," the Assistant Governor added. "In 2006, GOSI launched short message service, through which more than 630,000 notification messages are sent annually. Moreover, the e-payment system (SADAD) was launched, allowing more than 598,000 e-payment transactions to be conducted annually. GOSI also launched Proactive Services as well as GOSI-Phone which offer several self-service for contributors and employers," Al-Omran said. The Assistant Governor said "GOSI attaches the utmost importance to the protection of data. Therefore, it applies highest standards to protect the data and secure e-services channels. Moreover, GOSI established an information center that is synchronized with the main information center and replaces the other in case of system crash." Concluding his statement, Al-Omran said that more than 39,000 transactions are conducted per day through GOSI e-channels.
