A passenger plane crashed into a building in the Nigerian city of Lagos Sunday, authorities reported. Rescue workers and volunteers were on their way to the area amid media reports of at least 150 dead, dpa reported. Broadcaster Channels TV put the death toll at 147, with deaths both among passengers and on the ground. The Dana Airlines passenger plane had taken off from the Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos and was headed for Abuja at the time of the crash. The accident was believed to be in the city's heavily populated Ishaga district. Yushau Shuaib, a spokesman for the National Emergency Agency, said the death toll could not be confirmed. Lagos airport has been shut down and passengers awaiting further flights told to go home.
