At least 16 people were killed when a passenger train collided with a parked freight train in India's southern state of Andhra Pradesh on Tuesday. A Bangalore-bound train hit the freighter at the Penukonda station in the Anantapur district, 400 kilometres south of state capital Hyderabad, according to a report of DPA. "Sixteen passengers were killed in the crash. Fourteen bodies were found inside the coaches while two passengers succumbed to injuries on way to the hospital," said Anantapur deputy police chief M Sivaiah. "More than 30 passengers have been injured and admitted to the hospital," he said, adding that the death toll could rise as some of the injured were in critical condition. Four coaches derailed and one had caught fire, railway spokesman AK Saxena said. Some passengers were still trapped in one of the damaged coaches and rescuers were working to free them.
