year partnership between Zahid Tractors and Volvo Trucks, the former launched the Volvo FMX truck in the Kingdom. The car that is assembled in Jeddah is designed to perform both on and off roads and can be used in construction and other industries. Amr Khashogji, Vice President for Zahid Group Affairs and Lars-Erik Forsbergh, President of Volvo Trucks North Africa and Middle East, were present at the celebration. Khashogji said that the company is ready to introduce high-quality trucks designed to meet its clients' requirements on the ground. “The Arabian Vehicles and Trucks Industry Company was established by Zahid Tractors and Volvo Trucks in 1998 aiming to keep pace with the dynamic growth in regional sales of Volvo trucks in the Kingdom. I am proud that the company has succeeded in building a strong international partnership for a global-level Saudi car-assembling industry,” he said. Shiekh Yousif Zahid, Vice Executive President of Zahid Tractors said on the occasion: “It is my honor to state the accomplishments of Zahid Tractors over the 30-year-long relationship with Volvo Trucks.” Naser Bairam, Director of Commercial Vehicles at Zahid, said Volvo FMX has a number of new qualities including a 13-liter engine, improved gearbox, and a load-measuring device to ensure the best performance level of gear movement. This makes the truck the perfect choice for the construction industry, he added. “I am very glad to be here today to witness this major event. We at Volvo trucks value our successful relationship with Zahid Tractors. This relationship has always allowed us to improve services to our clients in the strong, growing Saudi market,” Forsbergh remarked. Volvo trucks are assembled in a modern factory located in the Industrial Zone, Kilo 14, Jeddah. About 75 percent of its workers are Saudis.
