JUBAIL: Saudi Aramco has been asked to provide land for its employees, so that they can build their own houses. The request was made by Jubail City Local Council to help solve the city's housing problem, said Abdulmuhsin Al-Otaishan, Jubail governor, Sunday after a council session. Al-Otaishan said employing Saudis at private companies at Jubail Industrial City is a top priority for the council. Another important issue is the sewage system in the city, he said, noting that the two subjects were discussed during the session along with other related recommendations from the previous meeting. The council listened to a detailed report on the sewage system and project coordination from the Services and Public Facilities committee. The council approved a proposal to have Marafiq company - without intervention from the region's Directorate General of Water – to completely operate and supervise the sewage network in the city. Al-Otaishan said the situation in Jubail is different from other cities because sewage water is processed by Marafiq. He said this arrangement will prevent future problems because there are now two bodies carrying out separate functions – one responsible for the sewage system and the other for processing sewage water. He added that with one body supervising the network there would be less funds wasted, lower costs and an improved service. Al-Otaishan said the council appreciates the “huge efforts” of the water directorate. The council recommended the formation of a team from the services and public facilities committee to oversee employment of Jubail's youth and to coordinate with the Labor Office in the region to fill available job vacancies.
