JEDDAH: Makkah will witness Monday two astronomical phenomena: the equal length of day and night – sunrise and sunset at 6:30 A.M. and 6:30 P.M. respectively – and the moon in a vertical position above the Holy Ka'ba. Majed Abu Zahra, head of the Jeddah Astronomy Society (JAS), said after sunset, the International Space Station (ISS) will enter the Makkah sky from the west at 7:15 P.M., and about three minutes later its bright light will be seen easily in Makkah and nearby areas. The moon will be vertical over the Ka'ba, for the second time this year, at 7:55 P.M. local time. It will be 67.9 percent illuminated, he added.
