DAMMAM: The industrial health and safety regulations in Saudi Arabia are now being strictly implemented to cope with the emerging economic development in the Kingdom and the Gulf region, according to Lieutenant Colonel Dr. Saad Saeed Al-Qahtani, Director of General Administration of Safety, Directorate of Civil Defense in the Eastern Province. He delivered the keynote address at the ongoing Saudi safety and security conference which opened here Tuesday at the Dhahran International Exhibition Center. The conference is being held under the patronage of Prince Mohammed Bin Fahd, Governor of the Eastern Province in collaboration with the Saudi Arabian Directorate of Civil Defense. “The implementation of the Saudi Arabian Standards Organization (SASO) industrial health and safety regulations is becoming one of the most developed in achieving and delivering quality safety to Saudi industries,” Al-Qahtani said. “The Directorate of Civil Defense continues to perform safety auditing of these establishments to evaluate their safety management system, the purpose of which is to confirm whether health and safety procedures and practices fulfill legal requirements, internal policies, and accepted practice,” he said.
