Khalij is all set to play Nestle Mile, while Jotun takes on Crown Blue in the 40-over Premier League in the WPCA Phase II tournament.
In the matches played last week AOT Sonex beat Crown Steel by 128 runs; My Care and Hala downed the highly-rated Dopco Stars by 59 runs; Zultec had the last laugh against Usman Gems when it won by five wickets; while Nafahat Al-Khalij downed Zultrack by eight wickets in the Afternoon League.
In the main event AOT Sonex chose to bat first against Crown Steel and racked up record 423 for six in its quota of 40 overs. Awesome Faisal was in great touch and plundered the Crown Steel bowlers to notch up a fine century off 62 deliveries. He made 159 off 96 deliveries (20 fours and three sixes). He added 149 runs for the first wicket in 14 overs with Ilyas, who made 72 off 46 balls. Ilyas hit 10 fours and a six. Kashif later added 42 and Naeem Shah contributed 38 to the Sonex total.
Aijaz and Abid grabbed two wickets each for 73 and 92 runs, respectively.
Crown Steel in reply started promisingly with skipper Shafeeq firing on all cylinders. He made 117 off 56 deliveries with the help of 16 hits to the ropes and three sixes. But once Shafeeq was back, steelmen lost wickets at regular intervals with only Hussain Bhatti putting up some resistance with 49 runs before the team was bundled out for 295 in 33 overs. Shahnawaz picked up three wickets for eight runs while Imran bagged two wickets for 37 runs.
In another match My Care Hala, batting first against Dopco Stars, piled up 307 for 8. Hard-hitting opener Kashif hit his century off 66 deliveries, but once the master blaster went back after scoring 141 (19 fours), the wickets tumbled at regular intervals. Shahbaz picked up 2-62 for Dopco.
Dopco in reply never looked like reaching the target, except for when Khurram (102) was at the crease. Maqsood added useful 52 runs. Arshad took 4-31, Abdul Qayyum 3-46 and Mohsin Mirza 2-39 to bowl Dopco out for 248 to win by 59 runs.
The third match of day saw Usman Gems using the track first against Zultec. It was bowled out for 235 in 33.2 overs with Nadeem Butt making 70 off 48 balls and skipper Amer Sajjad adding 68. Yusuf Khan picked up 2-22, Bilal 2-26, Khalid 2-38 and Usman 2-53 for Zultec.
Zultec responded to this moderate target with prolific Abdullah Essa hammering 73 off 52 deliveries and Bilal hitting an unbeaten knock of 53 to take the team to the winning target of 238-5 in 31.4 overs.
In the Afternoon League last match Zultrack was bundled out for 87 in 91 balls by Nafahat Al-Khalij. None of its batsmen crossing the double-digit mark. Nasir took 3-21, Shakil 2-15 and Iqbal 2-20.
Nafahat reached the winning target of 94 runs for the loss of two wickets in 63 balls. Kashif scored 39 runs. __
