JEDDAH: Green House picked up the winner's trophy at the recently-held Annual Sports Day at Pakistan International School Jeddah - English Section. The Green House finished first with 866 points, followed by Red House (752 points), Blue House (703) and Yellow House (662). These are the combined points the houses scored after the girls' and boys' sports days were held at the school premises on Jan. 11 and 12, respectively. The students (girls and boys) took part in varied races such as: tying the lace race (Y3-Y4 standards), hoop around the waist race (Y3-Y4), caterpillar race (Y5-Y6), three-legged race (Y7-Y13), relay, hurdles, and flat race (200m and 400m for Y3-Y13). The event also included a thrilling Tug of War. Among the most spell-binding events were the gymnastics and karate displays by the school students. The days' events started with a recitation from the Holy Qur'an, followed by the national anthems of Saudi Arabia and Pakistan. The chief guests on the Girls' Sports Day were HRH Princess Hala Abdullah Abdul Aziz Al-Saud and Fouzia Salik (wife of Consul General) along with the guest of honor Aysen Sen, wife of Turkish Consul General. The chief guest on the Boys' Sports Day was Qamar Siddique Raja, Consul CA and Link Officer of the School. The Principal, Mrs. Sehar Kamran, welcomed the honorable and distinguished guests, parents, faculty members and students. “At PISJ we represent our beloved country Pakistan with immense pride, we take pride in grooming, training and educating future architects of Pakistan, we take pride in spreading knowledge, and we take pride in developing strong patriotic spirit among students,” the principal said on the Boys Sports Day. Addressing the students on the girls sports day the principal thanked Princess Hala for gracing the event. She said: “Saudi Arabia is a second home for Pakistanis, and we highly admire the strong bond of love and respect between Saudi Arabia and Pakistan. We all pray for the health and quick recovery of King Abdullah, custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, and look forward to his safe return in good health.” She said sports teaches us how to work together in achieving a common goal. __
