(SG photo by Mohammad Mazhar Siddiqi) JEDDAH: The winners of the second Okaz Creative Advertising Awards (OCAA) were honored at a glittering ceremony at the Jeddah Hilton Wednesday evening, with prizes handed out by Prince Misha'l Bin Majed, Jeddah Governer, on behalf of Prince Khaled Al-Faisal, Emir of Makkah. The ceremony, hosted by Saudi Television news anchorwoman Khulud Al-Nemer and with noted figures and members of the diplomatic corps in attendance, featured a documentary film on the history of Okaz Organization for Press and Publication and its publications such as Okaz daily newspaper, Saudi Gazette, Al-Nadi sports daily and Roaa magazine, as well as a light show from a German group and traditional Saudi dancing. Waleed J. Kattan, Director General of Okaz Organization, described the awards, which have a designated website through which it received this year some 2,000 submissions, as giving young Saudis a “platform to showcase their talents to the world”. “We are very proud to have succeeded for the second year in a row in attracting creative and talented hands from respected advertising agencies in the Kingdom to take part in the competition,” Kattan said. “We hope to see the awards go international.” Saleh Al-Turki, Chairman of the OCAA Jury Committee, said the award was “unique in the region”. “This year's contest involved a special category to celebrate the successful operations undergone by King Abdullah, Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques,” he said. The winner in that category was Hassan Al-Zahrani, who was rewarded with the Golden Prize with SR75,000 in cash, while the Silver Prize and SR50,000 went to Dalal Al-Sharif, and the Bronze Prize to Wajnat Nazer, who received SR25,000. Amin Qaysaran was given the SR15,000 supportive award and Inas Ba'ashin took the SR10,000 appreciative award. In the Investment Bank Print Advertising category no gold or silver prizes were awarded this year. Full Stop Agency took bronze, however. In Food and Drink, Leo Burnett won both gold and silver, and Full Stop Agency took bronze. Full Stop also won gold and SR150,000 in the category for Telecom Services, Mobile Telephones and Computers, with silver going to JWT and bronze to Impact BBDO. Leo Burnett took all three prizes in the Outdoor Print Advertising award, while in Public Services Print Advertising Full Stop won both gold and silver, with Bub Bazz taking bronze. Leo Burnett won gold for Television Commercials, with Deep and Full Stop sharing silver and Drive Dentsu and Full Stop sharing bronze. Gold in the award for best Public Services Television Commercial went to Deep, silver to Leo Burnett, and bronze to Visulizit. Mac Group Communication took gold in the award for radio advertisemnt, with silver and bronze going to JWT and Full Stop respectively.
