RIYADH: Prince Sultan Bin Salman, President of the Saudi Commission for Tourism and Antiquities (SCTA), launched the Andalusian Parks exhibition in Riyadh Tuesday. Speaking at the launch, he said the SCTA is working on the development of two museums in Najran and Al-Jouf. He said that the Kingdom still lacks museums. He also praised the National Museum in Riyadh. He said the Andalusian Parks exhibition, held at the National Museum in cooperation with the Islamic Cultural Center of Madrid and the embassy of Spain in Saudi Arabia, is an example of the deep history, culture and communication between the two countries. He said the exhibition was in the interests of Saudi-Spanish relations and underlines the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques' call for communication between civilizations. The Spanish Ambassador to Saudi Arabia said in a speech that the exhibition “is considered a part of the strong cultural cooperation between the Kingdom and Spain”. The one-month exhibition is aimed at conveying the message of cooperation to preserve the environment and the heritage of the East and West, and to stress the importance of documenting Islamic civilization which has elements of the Andalusian culture, he said. It also aims to renew the cultural bonds that unified the East and West for centuries, he added.
