JIZAN: Two female teachers and a driver who police believe was speeding were killed on the spot Monday and three other teachers were seriously injured in a traffic accident on Al-Humaira Road in Al-Arida, Jizan, authorities said. The driver lost control of the SUV that was carrying five female teachers to their houses, police said. The SUV veered off the road, hit a hill, overturned several times and landed on an area six meters below the road, according to authorities. Civil Defense rescuers, security patrols and Red Crescent workers rushed to the scene and freed the teachers from the wreckage and took the three surviving teachers to Al-Arida General Hospital. The deceased were moved to the morgue at the hospital. Preliminary investigations showed that speeding caused the fatal accident, said Col. Awad Al-Qahtani, a Jizan Police spokesman.
