DAMMAM: By 2015 all children in the Kingdom will receive “good, compulsory primary education”, said Dr. Ali Al-Almaee, Assistant Director General of Planning and Policies at the Ministry of Education and Secretary General of the National Education Forum. Al-Almaee said the national forum has contributed significantly to improving early childhood education. He said the national forum has concentrated on guaranteeing the education requirements for children and adults through its education and skills programs. “By 2015 there will be a 50 percent improvement in adult education, especially among women. The Illiteracy Free Society program has been implemented over the past four years and more than 80,000 pupils have benefited. The rate of illiteracy has dropped by 6.7 percent among men and 19.4 percent among women in 2009, from seven percent and 19.8 percent respectively, in 2008,” he added.
