Mobily Marathon will in March, 2011 hold for the first time a roller-skating race, organizers have said. The one-kilometer event is part of plans due to be approved in the upcoming meeting of the marathon committee with the Governor of Jeddah Prince Mish'al Bin Majed. “Prince Mish'al asked us to increase the time of the event's functions to one week,” said head organizer Abdullah Bakshab. “He has asked for more running lanes and for the finish line to be at the Red Sea Mall where the awards ceremony will be held. With an increase in competitors from 20 countries, the race distance will also be increased to 21 kilometers.” Other plans for the 2011 Jeddah-Mobily Marathon include a running race for children under the age of six, to be held inside the Red Sea Mall. The 2011 event will be the eighth Jeddah-Mobily Marathon organized by Al-Bir Charity, and will offer awards and prizes worth a total of SR250,000, in addition to cars for the winners of main events.
