Ittihad draws with Nasr in Riyadh

Ittihad shared the spoils, 2-2, with its host Al-Nasr in a round-13 match of the Saudi Zain Professional League at Prince Faisal Bin Fahd Stadium in Riyadh Wednesday.
Nasr defender Mohammed Eid put his team in the lead after 16 minutes and Ittihad skipper Mohammed Noor leveled the score from the spot four minutes later. Romanian midfielder of Nasr, Ovidiu Petre, put the host ahead again 12 minutes after the break. However, Noor restored parity, again scoring from the spot in the 73rd minute.
The tough match started with a yellow card against Eid of Nasr for attempting to score with his hand, and ended with a red card against Ittihad striker, Naif Hazzazi, in the third minute into injury time, for sliding aggressively against Nasr defender Ahmed Al-Doukhi.
Despite, the draw, which was fifth for Ittihad, the team still tops the standings with 26 points. However, the yellow team still has one match in hand. Nasr stays second with 24 points.
In another match, Al-Wehdah won 2-1 over its host Al-Ta'awon at King Abdullah Sports City in Buraidah. The win lifted Wehdah to the sixth place with 16 points. It also kept Ta'awon on the 10th position with 12 points.
Ahli bags Youth Cup
Al-Ahli thrashed its city rival Al-Ittihad 5-0 in the final of the Saudi Federation Youth Cup at Prince Abdullah Al-Faisal Stadium in Jeddah Tuesday.
Ahli had won over its guest Al-Ittifaq 4-3 in the semifinals while Ittihad had qualified after beating host Al-Hilal 4-2 in a shootout that followed a 2-2 draw.
Calderon to coach Al-Hilal
Al-Hilal signed Gabriel Calderon of Argentina as coach until the end of the current season following the departure of Belgian Eric Gerets who took charge of the Moroccan national team.
According to the contract, the new coach will get SR3 million. He will take charge from Hilal's next encounter against Najran Thursday.
