The Ministry of Education has rebuked school canteens for charging pupils above the market rate for meals. Inspectors reportedly noted during visits “unjustified prices” for food offered by school canteens, and the ministry has asked both government and private schools to ensure that their canteen prices match market rates. The ministry has also told schools to ensure that menu prices are available and placed “in a prominent place where everyone can see them”.
