A Yemeni national was electrocuted to death Monday in Kilo 6 District as he tried to pump water out of his house with an electric motor. The motor's wires came in contact with the water. The district's residents have been using water pump motors to get rid of water collecting in the area as a result of leaks from the pipes of a water company. They had filed several complaints with the company but the situation was not resolved. They say the leaking water have “drowned” the neighborhood and caused cracking of the walls of homes and damage to furniture. They said they complained to the National Water Company's emergency department, after which the company sent a representative “but nothing was done”. This had forced them to buy electric motors to use as a temporary solution. They say they fear the accident that killed the Yemeni may be followed by other similar accidents. Brig. Abdullah Al-Jiddawi, Director of Jeddah's Civil Defense, said that his department moved the deceased and referred the matter to the Jeddah Police. Engineer Abdullah Al-Assaf, Director of the National Water Company, said field teams were sent to the location Monday to examine the situation.
