The Herafia (craftwork) Charitable Society on Wednesday handed over 48 projects to male and female graduates who completed their one-year training at the Ba Mujalli Commercial Center. The projects are shops for computer maintenance, mobile phones, photography, advertising, fashion design, and home decoration. The shops were opened for graduates to manage after several months of training. A total of 24 shops were handed over to women and the same number to men. The handing over was attended by Chairman of the Board of Directors of Herafia, Ahmad Bin Hussein Hashem, Director General of Social Affairs in Makkah Province, Abdullah Aal Tawi, the Director of Makkah Social Affairs, and Sheikh Ahmad Bin Jameel Ba Mujalli. Hashem said the new projects will be followed by another group of small projects donated by businessmen through the society. These will be handed over on two occasions starting with a ceremony on Aug. 28 when 70 Saudi craftswomen will graduate. The ceremony will be patronized by Princess Al-Anoud Bint Abdullah Bin Muhammad, wife of Prince Khaled Al-Faisal, Emir of Makkah. The other ceremony that will be held after Ramadan will see the handing over of free projects to 30 Saudi male graduates. Hashem said Herafia has succeeded in training more than 1,200 men and women over the last 18 months. Trainees go through several stages until they are able to face the labor market and compete with expatriates. He said a number of international training programs were endorsed.
