More students will be enrolled in universities across the Kingdom, Dr. Muhammed Bin Abdul Aziz Al-Ohali, Undersecretary at the Ministry of Higher Education for Academic Affairs, said here Friday. Arrangements have been made to increase the admission capacities of the Saudi universities by 10 percent effective new academic year, he said. Dr. Al-Ohali said the new measure would enable all students passing out secondary school to enroll in universities and other institutes for higher professional studies. He said universities and higher institutes had absorbed about 250,000 students last year representing 95 percent of the total secondary school graduates. Dr. Al-Ohali said the move to increase the admission capacities comes within the ministry's plan to provide a seat to every secondary graduate - both boys and girls - in universities and higher professional institutions. The official indicted that the ministry encourages the secondary graduates to enroll in technical colleges and institutes in order to meet the requirements of the labor markets. Dr. Al-Ohali said the number of the graduates of the secondary schools is expected to reach 300,000 this year. – Okaz __
