Clouds and dust that have partially blanketed the skies of the capital since Monday have given residents here a respite from the high temperatures, sweltering heat and dryness experienced during the past few months. The daytime temperature here has gone down to 43°C from a high of 48°C just a few days ago. Partially cloudy weather and a wind speed of 18 mph has offered some relief from the scorching sun. According to weather reports the daytime temperature will remain around 43°C for the next five days. At night, the temperature will fall to around 26°C, which will be welcomed by people preparing for the holy fasting month of Ramadan. Muslims during Ramadan abstain from food and drink from dawn to dusk. “I was a bit concerned, particularly for my children, who will be fasting for the first time this Ramadan, which falls in the hot summer, Moneeza Jahangir, a Pakistani mother of two, said. She said although there has not been much difference in the discomfort level during the daytime, “I enjoy the cloudy skies, which is a sign of changing weather conditions”.
